The path to new treatments
The future of treatment for many of today’s diseases lies in uncovering mechanisms that are newly emerging or are still to be discovered. We believe the best way to help patients is to focus on breakthrough science to discover these mechanisms and develop novel, targeted therapies that interact with them.
Our diversified medicine portfolio spans across primary and specialty care.

Our Covid-19 Vaccine, Protecting Public Health
When the Covid-19 pandemic hit in early 2020, AstraZeneca responded swiftly to the global crisis by partnering with the University of Oxford to develop a vaccine 'made for the world' to alter the course of the pandemic and save lives.
We became the first vaccine producer to commit to the COVAX Facility (a coalition of CEPI (Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations), Gavi, WHO (World Health Organization)) to ensure low-to-middle income countries have equitable access to the vaccine and at no profit.
Over time, the broad, equitable access to the vaccine at no profit became the hallmark of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine.
Our commitment to Malaysia included the sustainable supply of the vaccine to support the country’s largest-ever national immunisation programme. More than 9 million vaccine doses have been delivered to protect the health of the public, while supporting the country’s transition to endemicity.
